Council Committees
Under the Local Government Act 1999, Councils may establish committees to assist the council in the performance of its functions (ie provide specialist advice to Council), to inquire into and report to the council on matters relating to council’s responsibilities, to provide advice to the council or to exercise, perform or discharge delegated powers, functions or duties.
The committee’s membership is determined by council and may include persons who are not members of the council. The minutes from these committees are tabled at the following Council meeting for ratification.
KI Council determined that the following committees would be disbanded as of Tuesday 14 July 2020.
- Kangaroo Island Airport Management Committee
- Boating Facilities Committee
- Finance Committee
- Awards and Grants Assessment Panel
It is also a legislative requirement under the Development Act 1993 that Council have a Development Assessment Panel.
