Office Closure - Commencing 5pm Tuesday, 24 March

In response to the COVID-19 virus, Council’s offices at Dauncey Street and the Depot will be closed to the public until further notice.

However, Council staff will continue to provide services to the community. To order Library books, pay bills or to speak with Council staff, please phone, email or utilise our online services. For all Council enquiries & payments please phone Customer Service on: 08 8553 4500 or email alternatively, Council Payments can be made online, click here.

As per Federal and State Government requirements Playgrounds, Skate parks & Council Campgrounds are now CLOSED. Our parks and reserves remain open for your leisure.

Kangaroo Island Bushfires

As of Monday 24 February 2020, the Recovery Centre at 12 Jubilee Ave Parndana will be open Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 10:00am to 4:00pm and can assist with all fire recovery needs, including grant applications. Phone 0438 861 215

Kangaroo Island Airport Management Committee

The Kangaroo Island Airport Management Committee was established pursuant to Section 41 of the Local Government Act, on 11 June 2019 by resolution of the Council.

The aims and objectives of the Committee are to consider in a strategic framework, issues and initiatives and recommend actions to Council to:-

  • Maintain and improve the Airport infrastructure.
  • Provide services and amenities at the Airport for the improved use and enjoyment by users of the facilities.
  • Encourage public interest and support for the development and growth and management of the Airport and its amenities.
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate all efforts towards further development and growth of the Airport and its facilities.
  • Consider and advise on the care, protection, management, operation and improvement of the Airport and its amenities.
  • Consider and plan for the long term financial objectives of the Airport.
  • Carry out such other matters, purposes and things incidental to and in furtherance of the aims and objectives as set out above.

Council appointed the following members to the Kangaroo Island Airport Management Committee:

  • Presiding Member Mayor Michael Pengilly
  • Cr P Denholm
  • Cr G Teasdale
  • Cr S Pledge

A call for expressions of interest for two community members will follow.

Details on the dates of upcoming meetings are published in Council Matters prior to the meeting. Meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend and observe proceedings.
