This page has been developed specifically to provide guidance on RV and caravan parking within Kingscote, Parndana, Penneshaw and American River CBDs however contains additional information on general parking rules as .

1. Is a RV or car with caravan attached considered a long vehicle?
Yes, any vehicle (or car with a caravan or trailer attached) that exceeds 7.5m in overall length is considered a long vehicle.

2. My vehicle is a long vehicle (ie over 7.5m in length).  How long can I park in an angle parking zone?
You can not park your vehicle in angle parking bays and you should find an alternative parallel parking option.

3.  My vehicle is not a long vehicle (ie less than 7.5m in length) but is longer than the marked angle park. Can I still park in the angle park?
No. No part of the vehicle must overhand the line marked parking bay.

4. My vehicle is longer than the marked angle park, can I park across multiple angle parks?
No. If your vehicle is longer than the marked angle park you need to find an alternative parking option.

5. My vehicle is a long vehicle. Am I allowed to parallel park in a parking zone and use more than one space?
Yes but only where parallel parking is permitted and you must occupy the least number of bays as possible.

6. Where is parallel parking for long vehicles available within Kingscote CBD?
There is no specified long vehicle parking within Kingscote however there are many parallel parking opportunities as show in the map. Please note: there may be other restrictions in these locations including driveways, disabled parking areas, time limits, overhanging trees or size of parking area that may impact on your ability to park a long vehicle at these sites.

7. Where is parallel parking for long vehicles available within American River, Penneshaw and Parndana CBDs?
There is no specified long vehicle parking within these areas however there are parallel parking opportunities as show in the maps. Please note: there may be other restrictions in these locations including driveways, disabled parking areas, time limits, overhanging trees or size of parking area that may impact on your ability to park a long vehicle at these sites.

8. Can I park my long vehicle (semi trailer, RV or car with caravan or trailer) in the street all day?
No. A long vehicle is bound by normal time restrictions in zones with a time limit. In unrestricted parking areas  a long vehicle that exceeds 7.5m in overall length can be parked for no longer than one hour, day or night, unless loading or unloading is taking place.

9.  Can I park a vehicle or long vehicle across the entrance to a property if I have the permission of the property owner?
No. No one, including the property owner, is permitted to block access to a driveway.

10. Can I park my RV or car and caravan in a parallel park over night?
No.  A long vehicle is bound by normal time restrictions in zones with a time limit. In unrestricted parking areas  a long vehicle that exceeds 7.5m in overall length can be parked for no longer than one hour, day or night, unless loading or unloading is taking place.

11. Can I park on a path, dividing strip or nature strip?
No. Vehicles must not be parked with any part of the vehicle on a footpath or footway. This includes the grass verge outside your home. Apart from the obstruction to pedestrians, footpaths/footways are not intended to bear the weight of vehicles as damage might be caused to kerbing, the land surface or services located underneath.

12. If I've parked in a parking zone with a time limit, can I move the car to a nearby parking space when the time expires so I can stay longer?
Yes, but only if the vehicle has first been removed completely from its current parking spot.

13. Am I parallel parked legally as long  as the wheels of my vehicle are inside the line markings on the road?
No. No part of the vehicle must overhand the line marked parking bay.
