Bushfire Safer Places on Kangaroo Island
It is important to not confuse a Last Resort Refuge with a Bushfire Safer Place:
- Bushfire Safer Places - Use if you need to relocate early.
- Bushfire Last Resort Refuges - Use if your plan has failed.
A Bushfire Safer Place is a place of relative safety. It may be used as a first resort for those people who have planned to leave high risk locations. Suitable for use during CATASTROPHIC Fire Danger forecast day or during a bushfire.
FREE Camping at Kingscote Oval or Penneshaw Oval with Toilet facilities only. Council Campgrounds are closed on CATASTROPHIC fire danger days.
