A further five community groups and not-for-profit organisations will share in $5,000 in funding from the Kangaroo Island Council’s Community Grant Scheme.

At the February Council meeting, it was resolved the unsubscribed funding of $5,000 from the Council's 2023-24 Community Grants program be released as an expression of interest (EOI) to the Kangaroo Island community.

“Council sought expressions of interest from community groups or individuals seeking funding for projects that bring social, environmental and cultural benefit to the Island,” Kangaroo Island Mayor Michael Pengilly said.

“A total of seven eligible EOI submissions were received from the community,” Mr Pengilly said.

“All of the submissions were of a high calibre; we thank everyone who took the time and effort to prepare a submission,” he said.

“Applications were assessed against a number of criteria, including the capacity to deliver outcomes aligned with Kangaroo Island Council's Strategic Management Plan and target areas of need within the community.”

Successful submissions from the EOI for the unsubscribed funds from 2023/2024 Kangaroo Island Council Community Grants Scheme are:

· Birchmore Bowling Club - $550 for the development of a strategic financial plan

· Parndana Progress Association - $800 to purchase a third Light Horseman uniform for the ANZAC Day services in Kingscote and Parndana

· Baudin Beach Progress Association - $1100 to purchase and install a picnic table at Sabel Reserve, Baudin Beach

· Penneshaw Golf Club - $1704 for the club’s Native Revegetation Project
