Transport

Other Travel Assistance Options

Other travel assistance options that may be available to residents of Kangaroo Island for travel to and on the mainland include:

  • South Australian Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS)
This scheme provides country patients with some reimbursement for the cost of travel and accommodation when they’re required to travel over 100km (each way) to receive specialist medical treatment.
  • South Australian Transport Subsidy Scheme (SATSS)
This scheme is a State Government subsidised taxi travel program. It is for people with permanent and severe disabilities who, because of their disabilities, cannot safely use public transport either independently or accompanied by a companion/carer.
