Kangaroo Island Council Invites Community to Have Their Say at Listening Posts
Kangaroo Island Council is inviting residents to share their thoughts and ideas at a series of Community Listening Posts throughout March and April.
These informal sessions provide an opportunity for residents to speak directly with the CEO and Elected Members about the issues that matter most to them. There are no set agendas or formalities, just open conversation about the community’s future.
The first session outside Drakes in Kingscote was a great success, with over 20 residents stopping by to share their feedback. Many raised important local issues, and overall, the response was relatively positive.
Kangaroo Island Council CEO Daryl Buckingham said the Listening Posts are about making Council more accessible and ensuring residents feel heard.
"We want to be out in the community, having real conversations with people about what matters to them. These Listening Posts are a fantastic opportunity for open and honest discussion, no paperwork, no presentations, just genuine engagement," he said.
Mayor Michael Pengilly encouraged residents to take part and share their thoughts on how Council can better serve the community.
"We want to hear from as many people as possible. Whether it's roads, rubbish, community services, or future projects, this is your chance to have a say. These conversations help guide Council’s decisions and priorities," he said.
